DOES THE BELIEVER HAVE TO FAST. PARR 2
After some believers read the first part of this study, they jumped into conclusion that, "Albright is also against fasting". Am not! what I'm against is, telling people to starve themselves in the name of fasting.
"Albright, what are you saying?"
What I'm saying is that, there is a better way to fast and pray and that, it's not about starving yourself and repeating some religious words over and over again for a fixed number of hours or days.
What Fasting Is Not.
For many years we have been taught by religion that fasting is living on an empty stomach and saying empty religious prayers. "The longer we starve ourselves and repeat words over and over again, the more we receive power from God". What a lie?
See how religion has bewitched Christians lead many of them to an early grave.
Religion says fasting is about avoiding food; staying on empty stomach as if God needs your empty stomach for some business. I know many Christians who develop various degree of stomach ulcers for starving themselves in the name of fasting (which is not fasting at all), Some even die as a result. An example was a Pastor that died of stomach ulcer in Accra last three years after 80 days and 80 nights of starvation in the name of fasting. See how religion can blind people? The man died due to total lack of knowledge. No wonder Hosea say, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge. (Hos:4:6).
God does not want us starve ourselves and develop all kind of stomach ulcers and die stupidly. The stomach is made to contain food. Starving our stomach has nothing to with fasting as right fasting is concern.
What Is Fasting And Prayer?
The Bible talk about PRAYER AND FASTING, both are like twins with no much difference, One provokes the other. Prayer is practicing the presence of God or fellowshipping with God. Whiles prayer is fellowshipping with GOD, Fasting is another dimension of fellowshipping with God - which is fellowshipping with the WORD. It's separating oneself from all kinds of pleasure for studying, focusing and meditating on the word of God. Its being disconnected from everything and concentrating on God's word, meditating on his love and his goodness.
As you reflect and meditate over and over again on the word, unconsciously words begins to burst out of your mouth - that is prayer. You begins to prayer and speak in tongues, you are praying not because you set time to pray or you want to pray but you are praying because the word you focusing, meditating and reflecting on is provoking the prayer within and out of your mouth. At this point, its your spirit that is praying, He has taken over the senses (flesh) as you fast ( focus, look into and meditate) the word. The spirit know what he doing. By the time you realizes unbelief and doubt disappear.
Everything that is polluting your mind is flashed out and mind begins to undergoes renewal ( RM 12:2) because the word is going in. By the time you come back to your conscious state, three hours are gone, six hours are gone, so so and so hours are gone. Why? Because you are fasting the word ( the spirit) and the word begins robbing with your spirit and carry you away from your conscious State.
It's not that you want to prayer but the spirit is praying through you and moving you as you focus and meditate on the word- that's what fasting is- fellowshipping with the word. Its not not about saying I will not eat from 6am to 6pm; set a time for yourself and speaking some repetitive words in the name of prayer and when you are tired you sit down waiting for 6pm to eat.
Our stomach is not the dwelling place of God, it's the dwelling place of food. God dwellings in our spirit so fill your stomach with food so that you will not be distracted by hunger when you want fast the word.
Understand that fasting can be separating oneself apart and focusing on anything: people fast with football, you will see them fully focus and been carry away by a match between Real Madrid and Basa. When you call them they will never hear you. Sometimes you have touch them before they come back to their consciousness.Their attention is carry away by the football- they are fasting football. It can be anything else not only football.
So, Let it sink in you mind that the only fasting that is fasting before God is setting yourself apart for focusing, studying and meditating on the word of God. And if you like you can eat before starting.
Conclusion: Fasting is fellowshipping with the word, it's focusing and meditating on the word. We fast as believers, and as we fast our minds are being renew, unbelief, doubt and double mindedness are cast out ( Matt 17:21). we become fully persuaded and convinced of who we are and the authority we carry. And when demons see us a far, they begins to cry and run away.
Celebrate Jesus.
Shalom.
